my first scheduled run

This is going to be a lot harder than I thought. Today I did my first run using the training guide on beginnertriathlete.com. I did 18 minutes of running and 12 minutes of walking. I chose 6.2 mph for the run and 3.7 for the walk. The 6.2 was for 10 km/h, because I'd really like to be able to do 5k in 30 minutes to start.

I think my speed might be a little high on this. I was dying out there, and I think it might scare me away from keeping this up three times a week. Then again, if I improve quickly enough I'll be happy that I stuck through it, because this is my speed goal. I think I'll wait and see how I hold up after Wednesday. This looks like it's going to work!

My knee doesn't hurt (yet), but my right foot is feeling pretty bad. Hopefully it'll get used to it, but judging from how it's been feeling from the cycling, I don't know if that's going to happen. I really hope that my body doesn't limit me from doing the longer triathlons. I really wanted to start with an olympic length one, but if this keeps up I'll be lucky if I can finish a sprint.

HR stats:
run: 6 min - 176 bpm
walk: 6 min - 126 bpm
run: 6 min - 183 bpm
walk: 6 min - 127 bpm
run: 6 min - 184 bpm

I think the running is a little high. No wonder I'm heaving out of breath by the end. On second thought, I think I really should slow down the pace a little bit. 184 bpm AVERAGE?!? Not so cool.
