I really don't know what to have for a weight goal. At 5'8" (173cm), it depends on who you ask. If I do body fat measurements now they show that I'm somewhere around 30%. Same reading they gave when I was 200 pounds. So it doesn't seem like much is happening there, or anything that I'm losing has been coming from muscle
and fat. Not ideal, but whatever. I figure if I have less weight to carry, then I probably don't need as much muscle to carry it.
If I use the 30%, then that means that I have 133 pounds of non-fat. If you add 10% to that for essential fat, then that would put me at 146 as an ideal weight with my current muscle structure. I don't know about that, I doubt the accuracy of these body fat measurements.
When I look back to high school, I was freakishly small. I think by the end I finally made it up to 125 pounds. When I started putting on weight after that, it manifested it's self in my pot bellied shit locker. Even at 135 it was getting noticible.
I know I have more muscle now than then. Not a lot mind you, so I really don't know what to shoot for. Half of me is thinking it would be great to get back to the point where I had no shit locker at all. Maybe 130? But that would really be small. Plus, I'd like to have a bit more muscle than that, especially in my upper body.
Right now my goal is 140 by the end of the year. I think it's realistic, but I don't know for sure. I don't think I'm going to know what I should be until I get closer to my ideal. Maybe I'll want to go lower. Or maybe I'll be happier when I actually get around 155, which was the last time I actually felt like I was in decent shape.
How about I make it my goal to feel like I did when I was 140, whatever that ends up being?
edit: I'm an idiot. I used women's weight as a reference instead of scrolling down to men! So it says that for a small frame the ideal is 140-148. That sounds better. It also has a measurement test to tell your frame size. I knew I was small because of the other one I read, where you wrap your fingers around your wrist. If they just barely touch you're medium. My fingers overlap, which means I'm small framed.
There's a bone in the elbow to measure. If it's 2 3/4" to 3" wide, then you're a medium frame. Outside of that, and you're small or large. I'm closer to 2 1/2", although it's hard to measure exactly without calipers. Either way, I think it confirms that I should probably be shooting for more like 150 and then reassessing from there.
