This is more what bicycle touring is like. If you slow yourself down a bit, you can cover much longer distances with ease.

Big differences here from the last ride to work. My heart rate was much lower, because most of the time I was actually taking it easy. Caius was very tired from having done a 50k ride the day before and a 5k run the day before that. So I actually managed to pace myself for most of the ride. This was a very good thing.
We had issues with wind in the beginning of the ride, so it was trimmed down to 50k from the original 63. I was a little upset about that, but after feeling the cold cold 40 km/h head wind I didn't mind. Even going downhill was a struggle, with me pedalling hard I still couldn't top over 33 km/h. But on the way back I barely had to pedal to do 40, and downhill I hit 58. Damn that was fast.
This has really turned into a fitness blog, eh? My next step is to revisit fitday.com. I'm going to change my eating habits a little more. After figuring how easy and fast it is to grill your own food at home, that's going to become a regular thing. I'll be eating some pretty good food all the time. At least this is the new plan.
