myspaceGod, I hate myspace. But I have an
account (profile? whatever). Did I mention I hate it? The coolest thing is I found one of my favourite producers,
Kaidi Tatham, and put one of his tracks on my page. WOWOWOWOWOW!
There are actually
a lot of producers I like who are on there, but I don't know enough about myspace etiquette whether that means you're supposed to add them as friends. It surely would help find them again, but whatever. Maybe that's what favourites are for?
gmailI'm trying out
Gmail as my main email program instead of Apple Mail. Right now all my archives are in Mail, where they will remain. I forwarded all my incoming mail to Gmail and after verifying my email addresses, I'm able to send mail from within Gmail that appears to originate from my regular email address. It's pretty slick. Plus if I want to archive my email back to Apple Mail, it's still accessible through POP. It's painless and risk free to try, and completely transparent.
The program it's self isn't all that special. I'm sure most people have at least tried it (if not, ask for an invite), but where it really shines is in it's integration with Google's other tools, like
Calendar,
Reader or
Blogger. I haven't fully explored it completely yet, but it's looking very promising.
google readerI've been
using this one the longest so far. It's similar to
bloglines, where you can keep track of all your blogs and rss feeds in one place. It's use is very similar to Gmail. I prefer this to bloglines, which I had been using for a while previously. It just seems to have a slicker feel.
google calendarThis one is brilliant! I'm still sorting out what it's capable of, and how it's going to fit into my life, but it's very similar to Apple's iCal, but it's online (obviously) and available for people
still stuck using Windows.
Aparently you can publish your schedules, either showing your events or showing whether you're available or not. It might actually work well for people who never seem to find any spare time (like me). I'll post more about it when I have more specifics. Right now I'm learning. Already I've
sync'd it to iCal, which in turn syncs to my
bluetooth phone, so potentially I'm never away from my schedule.
All I need to do is to actually start using it. It's another one of those self-improvement type things I've been all about lately. Yay!
